| Step 1 |
Contact Gao to schedule an appointment. He will give you a short tour of the core lab and discuss with you the experiment design and other issues for your microarray experiment. The Primary Investigator (PI) is encouraged to join the discussion. The PI's contact information will then be entered into our database. |
| Step 2 |
Go to the web site http://microarray.uchsc.edu to register with the core lab. (if you are the PI and do the experiment yourself or have us do it, you still need to do this step). |
| Step 3 |
If you chose full service, you may skip this step and go to step 4. If you chose to do some of the procedures yourself in the core, go to the web site click on the Scheduling Calendars link, determine which facility to use and follow the link to the appropriate calendar to schedule an appointment and check availability. Pick an available date and submit your request. Core personnel will reserve the date for you. Please note that each facility can only take up to two groups simultaneously. It takes approximately two days to finish procedures 1 and 2 listed in the service description section of the introduction. |
| Step 4 |
Log on to the web site, and go to the Your Sample Information section. Click the Enter New Samples button and follow the instructions to enter new samples. |
| Step 5 |
If you chose full service, submit your samples (tissue or total RNA or Genomic DNA) to core lab personnel. If you chose to do some procedures yourself in the core lab, bring in your samples (Usually total RNA or Genomic DNA) and perform the procedures on the day of your appointment. The core will provide you with all the necessary reagents and consumables. You will be notified by email when chip processing is completed. |
| Step 6 |
Make an appointment with core lab personnel to do simple initial data analysis (limited to 2 hours per customer) and discuss other data analysis options. Data validation options will be discussed as well. |
